Want to defend press freedom…in London?

The Media Legal Defence Initiative, an organisation that helps journalists defend their rights, is recruiting for a Chief Operations Officer and a Legal Officer.

The Media Legal Defence Initiative is a charity that helps journalists defend their rights. We provide support for the defence of journalists and independent media outlets, and we do so through financial grants as well as by helping develop legal arguments and providing legal support. The Media Legal Defence Initiative has a global mandate. We are a young organisation, operational since 2009, and in the two years of our existence, we have already helped several hundred individual journalists and provided grants to national legal defence organisations in more than a dozen countries. We also support media defence lawyers networks and media law training programmes.

We are looking to grow our team. We are recruiting for a Chief Operations Officer, responsible for the overall running of MLDI’s systems and operations, and a Legal Officer, to strengthen our legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a young organisation and help build it to become a leader in the legal defence of journalists worldwide.
